I get a lot of questions from you about how I appeared Fotolikein, where did this idea come from, what does this project mean to me and "will I sell it." I take this opportunity to answer these questions.

For several years I have been developing, administering and helping to create familiar web projects. I have long discussed the possibility of implementing such a concept.

I spent a lot of time discussing the name of the site. The name of the project should reflect its essence. I viewed the site as a means of publishing photos and videos. I wanted people to be able to express their feelings through creativity. I originally wanted to pick a name "Facegood". However, this thought was soon abandoned. For me, even then it was important to give people the opportunity to express themselves in creativity and life through this site. Therefore, I decided to give the new project a universal name "FotolikeIN", which for some reason immediately liked everyone (it seems that I was the only person who doubted this name for a long time, but in vain).

In September 202 .. I entered the beta stage. I thoroughly tested the system, as I understood that people's personal information should be protected so that an attacker could never gain access to it.

Where the site was already known, the growth was like an avalanche. But one of the main tasks remained to disseminate information about the site in places where they had not heard of us. At the end of March, I announced a competition in which the winners received an Apple iPod and other prizes. I paid special attention to the conditions - the system should have been transparent and understandable. The competition was a great success and accelerated the dissemination of information about the site. In January, according to the traffic meter fotolikein.com ranked among the 50 fastest growing sites on the Internet.

By the end of March 202 .. Fotolikein had already become one of the most visited sites on the Internet, leaving behind large forums and sites. On April 1, more than 2 thousand people come to us a day, who view 2 million pages daily.

The explosive growth of the project has attracted attention from both domestic and foreign businessmen looking for a quick return on investment in European Internet projects. Over the past month, I have turned down investors' offers to "buy" Fotolikein.com three times. The fact that this site was created not for the purpose of resale, but for the purpose of uniting old friends, seems absurd to many businessmen - given the realities of business, this is understandable.

Now, when any website is viewed as a business project that makes money from advertising, refusal seems ridiculous to people in business - after all, if you place an advertisement, a site with our page views could bring its owners tens of thousands of dollars a month. Apparently, many people understood this when I received the first offers for "investment". However, I didn't want to turn Fotolikein into another place to feed ads to visitors - and the purchase offers were rejected.

Of course, you can go for the placement of limited advertising information - if our own funds do not allow us to pay the growing equipment costs. But advertising cannot and should not be the main purpose of a site of this kind.

I think that the concept of a business, which sees the site as only a means of generating profit, is flawed in many ways. She is capable of spawning a mediocre product, but she will never make it first-class or iconic. Its creators will not invest in it those mental strength and fanaticism that money cannot buy, but which are necessary. If we look for an analogy, the site should not be treated as an "investment of funds", but as a child who needs to be developed and looked after. Therefore, I often work more than 5 hours a day - time that I would not devote to any business project for any money.

I must say that among us, people who invest intellectual and material resources in the development of the site, there are very wealthy people. But, funny, the best and most interesting things in life cannot be bought with money. I am engaged in this project not because I need funds, but because I am interested in it. As for the money, I have enough for life, as well as to support and develop the idea of an Italian website. Therefore, I'm not going to "sell the site".

Thanks to everyone who has read up to this point.
