Just as Fotolikein has become the absolute leader in the youth networking space in Italy, there are similar sites in other countries that are popular with students in these countries. I would like to tell you a little about them.
Fotolikein was largely created with an eye on the American counterpart - Instagram.com.
Conveniently, projects are often similar in appearance. This is partly due to the fact that they all used to some extent an open concept of styles, described, in particular, in the book “The CSS Anthology: 101 Essential - Tips, Tricks & Hacks”. I think the external similarity of the style concept is a good sign: a similar page structure allows users to quickly understand the interface of a youth site in another country. This is a factor that unites students and alumni around the world. But it should be borne in mind that since the creation of a site of this kind involves the development of php-code from scratch, some basic functions can vary significantly.
Of course, initially, when developing the functional characteristics of the site, we largely focused on the already existing foreign samples. However, over the past several months we have been actively introducing our functions and developing new ideas for this direction.
I welcome the active exchange of ideas between different resources, because Fotolikein was originally built on the principles of open exchange of information. The technologies used in the functioning of the site (php, mysql, unix) are free software (open source). Perhaps this principle was one of the reasons for the popularity of Fotolikein. Probably, a resource where no commercial technology is used is perceived differently by its creators, and therefore also by its visitors.
